This year has been very good for myself and the teams at Morlais Castle. Both the 1st and 2nd Team sustained their place in their leagues after a couple of years of relegation. There is a strong team spirit and that will get you far. We have a new club champion and that again is refreshing for the club. We had the 10th anniversary of the Glamorgan order of merit event the Morlais Bowl thus event is growing year on year and has now become firm in the Glamorgan calendar. We now move into the winter with the winter programme of fitness and golf tuition forming a major part of activity after Christmas. Can I think Bunker Mentality for allowing me to be an ambassador this year. I have thoroughly enjoyed wearing your gear and have had many compliments fromantic players and friends in each club I have attended. It’s been a privelidge
It’s been a long tough season for both teams at the club. After both teams were relegated last year this year was all about strengthening and building. It’s been a good season both teams had the opportunity for promotion but it wasn’t to be. The teams have grown and managed to build good relationships in the pairs. Well done to both teams and all the players involved. Look forward to 2018.
It’s been a quiet few weeks on the golf front. After winning in Celtic Manor and then to Ashbury for a few days, the golf seems to have taken a back seat to work and family. This is changing and golf is back in ascendancy. Played for the 2nd team Tuesday night and won, the team also.won which is fantastic. Only 2 more games to go and we are pushing for promotion. Looking forward to a competition in Milford Haven in September not sure of format but it’s a game and catch up with a few of the society lads.
Will post again soon with more detail.
Loving my father’s day gift a voucher for Bunker Mentality. I just got to decide what I want to buy. Thank you kids. You are the best.
What a great 4 days that was. The weather was fantastic on Thursday and the course, The Pines was in good condition. I had a decent 35 points but not good enough. The winner had 43 points. The handicapping system on society works out the first place loses 5 shots the next day 2nd place 4 shots down the 5th place losing 1 shot. It’s the same coming from bottom up with last place gaining 5 shots and so on.
The other days playing Ashbury, the Kigbeare and 9 holes before coming home on the Ashbury courses were testing especially when the weather took a turn and we were hit with long hard showers.
The food as always is excellent all serve yourself and eat all you want. The pool facilities with the addition of the spa area the last 2 years have been heaven. Relaxing and having a laugh with the guys in the warm of the pool was very welcome.
Some of the guys have gone to Ireland today to play the K Club tomorrow and they’re off to Dubai at the end of the month. Sadly I’ve not been able to go on these, but I’m not jealous ! ??
Back to club competition golf this weekend. Hope the form carries on.
Looking forward to going to Ashbury for a few days on Thursday. Really good value and the courses are decent too, highly recommend it if you want to go with a few mates. Food is good, facilities are excellent and the amount of free leisure activities are stunning. Hopefully the weather will be kind so I can get the best clothing on. Looking forward to Bunker Mentality shorts finally going on. I’m defending champion so game has to be good.
