Recently I have been playing a lot of golf and I think it is starting to pay off as my golf is not in bad shape.
On Friday I played in a pairs knockout match with my dad which unfortunately we lost. I did not get off to a great start but by the 3rd hole I started playing well. After 9 holes the score was level and I felt there was a chance we could win the game however a few bad shots from both myself and my dad ended up being the difference between the two teams. I was not too disappointed with my performance as I played to handicap.
Saturday was a casual round and it was nice not having to worry about being in a competition. I had a very good front nine shooting 3 over par which I think is my best front nine score at Hazlemere. I usually score well on the back nine so I was confident teeing off on the 10th hole. My drive was a little wild and I followed it up with some bad golf and a double bogey went on the scorecard. This was followed up with a bogey on the par 3 11th hole. Not the best way to start the back nine as I was already 3 over on the back nine after two holes.
I ended the round by playing one under my handicap but felt I wasted a good chance to score a good round after a very good front 9. Overall I am pleased with how my golf is coming along and feel a good score is very close. I’m playing to handicap most rounds even with making some silly mistakes. Fingers crossed I can find a way to remove the mistakes so I can continue to reduce my handicap.
