Kings of Distance

Callaway Goodies

On Tuesday May 3rd I was lucky enough to be selected by Today’s Golfer Magazine and Callaway to attend the Kings of Distance (link) held at The Belfry.  So off I went, Ping G25 driver in hand and dressed of course in Bunker Style.

Starting at 8.30am with registration & breakfast, the day was filled with loads of golfing activities with a chance to test all the Callaway range as well as Odyssey Putters and getting fitted for a Callway driver to pitch against your own.

Not only was there all the latest Callaway equipment there but also the Tour Van to see how things are kept running smooth for the Pro’s on tour.

Joe Miller

The main attraction (for me anyway) was Joe Miller, Long Drive Champion.  I love my driver and I love smashing the ball a long way, so Joe is a bit of an idol for me.
Stood on the tee of the famous par 4 10th hole of the Brabazon course Joe smashed a 277 yard shot straight to the green… with a putter.  Yes, a putter.

Joe is a scratch-playing beast.  Do not miss an opportunity to see him in action.

Also there were coach and Sky Sports Golf Presenter Dennis Pugh to hand out a record 100 lessons in 1 day, women’s long drive champion Sandra Carlborg and Sky Sports Golf Presenter Robert Lee.
I was lucky enough to meet Sandra, have a mini lesson with Dennis, and pretend to be Danny Willett in an interview with Robert Lee.  What an amazing day!

With the Callaway fitting I managed an extra 30 yards over my existing driver using the XR16.  The XR16 was amazing to use and is on my wish list right now when it comes time to get fit for my next driver.

Guess Who?

Coming to the close Callaway did a spot prize for the “John Daly” award between Mr. Green, Mr. Blue and of course Mr. Pink.  Thank you Callaway for the prize

The Kings of Distance event was fantastic, and as always The Belfry the perfect venue.  If you ever have the opportunity to attend one of these events do not pass it by.
