My weekend started with a curry night on Friday that was supposed to be a bite to eat and a few drinks. The few drinks turned into several drinks and a late night. The 8:50am tee time that I had booked was a little ambitious so I decided to play slightly later in the morning. As there were no tee slots available at my home course Hazlemere till the afternoon I played at Princes Risborough.
On Saturday I was pleased with my golf as I played to handicap. I had a few shots that were slightly wayward but each time I was able to recover. One wayward shot was due to hitting the ball too well. On the 9th hole I struck my 8 iron approach shot sweetly and I thought it was heading straight for the green however it headed straight into the club house and made a very loud noise when hitting it. I was lucky the window did not smash but unlucky that the ball did not kick back into play and was sat out of bounds. My Uncle happened to be in the bar at the time and witnessed this.
Saturday was a nice warm up for my Singles knockout match this afternoon and I felt ready to take on my buddy Danny Griffin. A handicap difference of 3 made me think it could be a close game between us. The game was far from close and I am gutted I did not make a game of it. Danny got off to a good start and I found myself behind early on. I had chances on the front 9 to pull it back but each time these chances came I did not take them and I made it very easy for my opponent. Whilst I am disappointed I lost the weather and company was good so I can’t complain too much.
