Hi there, I’ve played a fair bit over the past 3-4 weeks and would like to recommend the Herefordshire Golf Club in Wormsley, Raglan Parc in Monmouthshire and The Roman Road (Celtic Manor) in Newport. I am a bit of a towney at heart and whilst there are benefits to having shops and retail parks within reach there is something to be said for getting away from the hustle and bustle of city life.
These courses all immerse you deep within the countryside where the only sounds are of birdsong and expletives following a duff shot. I would also add Kington GC and Church Stretton as must plays – they are both up there in high altitude stakes (Kington is the highest in England), the views are breathtaking and it is impossible to concern yourself with day to day trivial matters when you have such scenery on display.
I’ll be playing more courses over the coming weeks, ever striving for new golf experiences – as my ability improves gradually so does my enjoyment of this great game.
Enjoy your game,
