Small but Deadly

It is only 4 days to go until The Players, the “fifth” Major and featuring the iconic 17th hole at Sawgrass.

Probably one of the most famous 132 yards of golf hole in the world – surrounded by water which is estimated to swallow up 100,000 golf balls every year. And if the water isn’t enough to contend with, the guys have a tiny green to aim at with no margin for error. And there has never been a winner of the championship who has ended up in the water.

Who can forget Bob Tway’s 12 in 2005 – testament to how the great Par-3 holes can be deadly. Think 8th at Royal Troon, the 12th at August or the 8th at Oakmont. These holes can make or break you.

Sergio’s Ace last year

So who is going to win this year? Defending champion Si Woo Kim will be teeing it up along with current Master champion, Patrick Reed along with the past champions including Jason Day, Rickie Fowler Martin Kaymer and Tiger. And can Sergio repeat his fantastic 2017 hole-in-one at the 17th?

Should be another fantastic weekend of golf.  https://www.theplayers.com/
